What can we offer Local Authorities?
We can provide you with a Population Forecasting Study to ensure that the challenges of long-term growth in your authority are met with the provision of services and infrastructure. Specifically, this requires data from new housing, across major and minor developments, to establish robust information.
A straightforward quantitative household survey will be used to generate the required data. Following the completion of the fieldwork and data analysis, Cognisant will provide you with a full written report detailing the above demographic information. This report will also include a methodological statement, should the research process require clarification.
How is the study carried out?
We have developed a tried and tested population forecasting methodology with all elements of project delivery, from sampling to questionnaire design, agreed at a project inception meeting held between Cognisant and our clients.
Population — Our starting point is to establish how many dwellings have been completed since a client’s last study. These would then be typically considered as the population of interest for the project, representing the “new” dwellings in your Authority.
Questionnaire Design — As with all our research projects, Cognisant will work with you as the client to ensure that the final questionnaire design is robust and fit for purpose.
Fieldwork — Cognisant will use a team of experienced researchers to conduct the fieldwork for this project, supervised by a designated project manager.
Project Management & Timing — Typically these studies take between 6-12 weeks to complete with the time taken being very much influenced by the client’s ability to provide address data.
